Promoting the spirit of transparency and responsiveness that began with the successful election of Madeline Shapiro to the Rio Hondo Board of Trustees in 2009, the RHCFA Political Action Committee recommended the endorsement of Ronald Gonzales-Lawrence for the Trustee Area 4 seat. By an overwhelming margin of 157-16, you the membership have endorsed the PAC’s candidate recommendation.
Ronald Gonzales-Lawrence will be at the Faculty Association meeting on Thursday to introduce himself to you and take any questions you may have. Ronald is a former Rio Hondo student who has served on the Little Lake School Board since 2007. His campaign biography can be found here. Like all of us, Ronald is tired of the status quo from the Board and is highly concerned about the state of Rio Hondo College and wants to hear from faculty.
Since this is campaign season, money is a necessary evil. I strongly encourage you to bring your checkbooks to the meeting this Thursday, September 15th at 12:45 in the Boardroom to assist Ronald’s campaign efforts.
I have already personally donated to his campaign, as have several other faculty members. One member of the PAC was so impressed by Mr. Gonzales-Lawrence that she donated $200 to him. Unfortunately Rio Hondo Trustee elections are quite expensive, so even the donations from our PAC and the use of CTA funds, plus other fundraising, isn’t even close enough to covering the costs.
It is NOT enough to complain about the state of our college. Real change will only come about through the election of new trustees. Help us bring a change to Rio Hondo!
